When thinking about ECM or document management systems, storage and retrieval are, and should be, the most important factor. However, you must remember that a content management repository is only as good as the content that is stored within it, and importantly the way that content has been stored. If for example, you store content against the wrong retrieval fields, then your users will associate poor retrieval with a poor repository, which simply isn’t correct.
Document capture is the first step when using any content management repository, and its key to get this step, probably the most important step, right. Invest in good document capture software, ensure good processes and accurate data and your retrieval system will deliver as expected to your end users.
