workFile staff constantly review emerging technologies and architecture design concepts. Something that has been under great review is the concept of “un-structured” repository design. This is a design concept for storing information that removes the need for identifying data before it is stored. The key to this design concept is to use intelligent queries to obtain data and present it back to the user.
“The idea of an unstructured design is quite appealing, and some of the arguments for it are interesting, especially with regards to the time spent adding content into a repository. However, we won’t be looking to produce an unstructured version of workFile. After detailed review and some prototype testing, the benefits of such a design just aren’t there. We see no point in offering a light version of workFile in an unstructured format, simply because our customers would lose so many benefits that are currently provided by our workgroup license” Andrew Smith, Managing Director explained.
It is interesting though how many people are looking into unstructured concepts for all forms of storage and development practices.
